Recently, Nantong CIMC Sino pacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CIMC SOE") successfully loaded and dispatched the first and second sets (T154/155) of the world's first 7,500 cubic meter stacked bio-lobe LNG fuel tanks built for Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Changhong"). These fuel tanks will be installed on 11,500 TEU container vessels.
Considering the narrow and tall space characteristics of the fuel tank compartments on container vessels, the project adopted a stacked design for the bio-lobe LNG fuel tanks. Compared to traditional horizontally laid bio-lobe tanks, this design maximizes the use of available space, improving space utilization by at least 40%, reducing the box damage rate for shipowners by over 30%, and significantly enhancing the overall operational economy for the vessel owners.
To ensure the smooth progress of this world-first stacked bio-lobe LNG fuel tank project, the project team carried out specialized planning in advance and conducted predictive analysis of potential issues during the process. During subsequent construction, the project team and relevant departments meticulously planned and strictly implemented production schedules, ultimately delivering the project on time, with quality assurance, and safely.
