Ti Group recently delivered the CHS insulation of a 12,000 sq. ft. LNG bunker barge named Progress to the company Crowley with the vessel being built at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding.

Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding made maritime history with the delivery of the largest U.S. Jones Act-compliant vessel.

According to the Fincantieri Marine Group, Progress was designed by Crowley’s engineering services group, and the 416-ft. barge can carry 3.17 million gallons (12,000 cubic meters) of liquefied natural gas. The vessel will provide ship operators at the port of Savannah, Georgia, with what Fincantieri says is access to a cleaner energy source.

Fincantieri says LNG is the lowest carbon-based fuel currently available to maritime shipping. LNG is reported to have 23% less greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to very/ultra-low sulphur fuel oil.

This is the third LNG barge built by Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding with all the cryogenic insulation for the CHS being manufactured & installed by Ti Group.
